"Marimo"
Keiko Suzuki

jewellery
Marimo
(ma’li’mo’) is a
unique blend of natural stones, metalwork and wool felt jewellery by Keiko
Suzuki.
Having studied at the Osaka Bunka Fashion College in 1995, Keiko developed
her passion for art, fashion and design.
Her works (kekoo) were popular at the hand craft market in Kyoto (手作り市).
Keiko has shown her jewellery in the Inspiblo gallery in Kyoto. Keiko has
also done collaborative work with Lily Tale, Cocozell at ‘tapie style’
and at ‘Fetiche’ in Osaka.
A peculiar eye for tropical fish dot patterns, plant shapes, an insect
colour or moss may all be the inspiration for the pieces she creates.
Round shapes and dots gathering together is the concept behind this
jewellery as Marimo translates as to ‘moss ball’ in Japanese.
Using different media she recreates microscopic detail seen in nature into
creative, artistic jewellery.
Earrings and necklaces are made using stones, coral and felt.
Brass
pieces are cast from wax and formed by hand to create her original
designs.
